EXPERIENCE THE MYSTICISM OF INDIA

India is a vast and diverse country with an incredibly rich history and contrasting cultures. You can visit the bustling cities of Mumbai and Delhi or find some zen on the tranquil beaches of Goa or the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas.

Traveling in India can be an exhilarating experience but India is also large and crowded and we think you deserve to have a Local Tastemaker help you decide where to go, what to see and how to navigate this country like a pro.

PROFILE | Raised in California, Amruta has a diverse professional background from working in neuroscience labs to a career in the Silicon Valley tech startup and venture capital ecosystem.

The draw to adventure has taken her all over the world and after living in Australia and slow traveling through Japan, Colombia, South Korea and more, Amruta was called to India to explore her Indian roots and cultivate a relationship with her culture heritage.

Amruta has now been based in the foothills of the Himalayas in Northern India for the past 4 years. Between motorbike trips through the greater Himalayas and touring the beautiful backwaters of the coastal South, Amruta has immersed herself fully in India’s vibrant and diverse culture.

When not off on an adventure, Amruta also hosts yoga, meditation and breathwork sessions geared toward understanding the mind-body connection and knowledge from the Yogic and Ayurvedic Sciences for intentional and harmonious living in the modern day.

What’s not to miss in India? It has to be the food…India is a foodie’s paradise! There in an incredible amount of diversity in the culinary scene as regional cuisines change every few kilometers (as does the language, culture, etc).

What is your best advice for visiting India? Visiting India is a life-changing experience; a single trip will leave you transformed and wanting to come back for more. However it’s a massive country so I would recommend picking one region at a time to visit depending on the type of experience you’re looking for. Also, India experiences vibrant and intense seasons that vary by region so it's best to plan trips accordingly.
